i can't decide if it's better to be or not to be. it's the true crux of life: whether it's better to let fate run its ugly course or if it's better to take matters into your own hands and end things yourself. to die, rather to sleep... or to sleep no more? (and by sleep i mean a solace from heartbreak and strife that comes with living) surely this is something to wish upon a star, to whisper into an eyelash blown away, to hope for.
to die, to SLEEP... to sleep, maybe to dream... yes! that's the notion. see, in this sleep, this quiet death, may we find a dream unlike any living sensation. we must consider, though, what makes the poor and homeless, the sickly and decrepit, the depressed and hopeless live and suffer their lives? why bear the horrors of life and not bask in the sweet release of death? look, herein lies the problem: this dream we might find in death? we may enter this dream and suffer worse than in waking. we enter death blind, and we must ask ourselves: would we risk a worse outcome in our haste to end our dastardly fates?
this is the human condition: our thoughts turn us all cowardly. it's the natural outcome of human suffering to wake back to our lives out of fear of the unknown. and thus, we all live in unhappiness, but perhaps, it is a lesser sadness than that which comes after death.

Thinking abt how the kits would have absolutely zero grasp on the concept of mortality and death and how they'd be really confused on why their parents are upset and where Mothtree wen't :^)
Hi friend, I don’t want to be like a major downer but… Rosehipkit is VERY sick. She and Dogwood, more than any other kits, absolutely understand the concept of mortality and death in a way that they should not have to.

Gabe doesn't count in TA's mind because he'd simply say that Gabe has always been "just a man who loves his family." It's that whole bullshit "inherently good/inherently evil" rhetoric they have happening in the show. They did it with Felix too. Even if Felix was hated by TA initially, he was willing to say "Felix did all that because he loves Adrien oh so much, so he's also been inherently good this whole time" despite the fact that the plot of Felix's first appearance was him trying to ruin Adrien's life. He's talking out of his ass when he talks about realism.
Yeah it's just.
There is literally only one time I've ever seen 'the fact that you have, at any point in your life, ever loved another person means that we can ignore all the horrific things you've done' work.
And it sure as FUCK wasn't ML.

The greek afterlife as portrayed in percy jackson is one of the worst afterlives i've seen. You either get punished for eternity, sent to the gated community of elysium, or sent to purgatory to stand in a field and lose all individuality. God, none of those sound appealing. Those all suck. I prefer the egyptian afterlife, honestly. The way it was portrayed in The Kane Chronicles made it look a lot nicer.
Even the afterlives in the Norse stuff seem better. I don't really like Valhalla or Folkvanger, since they're for supposed heroes or whatever (and i don't see myself ever belonging there). I'd take my chances with Helheim. I trust that Hel would be a decent host. She's a bit gruesome to look at, but she seems like she cares for her charges. Also, I don't see her erasing my individuality like Hades would in his asphodel fields. So yeah. The egyptian afterlife might be best, followed by the norse ones. The greek one is probably close to last.

what do you fucking mean that's how charlie dies. THAT'S HOW CHARLIE DIES??? i mean i know the show has a penchant for killing off every character who's not a winchester brother or an angel of thursday but good god. what the fuck. charlie was such a good and enjoyable recurring character, and she had such a fandom impact that i've seen, and she's only around for THREE SEASONS?? (sidebar: it's amazing she has the presence she does for only being around for a couple episodes in the long run!) but: was this necessary? and she just dies offscreen after her skills are utilized to progress the plot of decoding the book of the damned?? oh my god. what in the actual fuck. i'm finding myself getting genuinely very upset at her death. she did not fucking deserve that. and i can absolutely see why the fan response to her death is what it is now. completely fucking unjustified and throwaway and useless.
#theo.txt#spn#charlie#spn spoilers#spn 10x21#almost none of the women who've gotten fridged on this show have deserved it but still#good god this one made me especially angry#why do you use this character for a plot point and then ship her off somewhere. to oz or to the afterlife. so often?#she was such a cool character with a good story that i enjoyed and related to and THIS is what they did with her?? and from my perusing she#doesn't even really come back like bobby occasionally does?? and his death. while devastating to me as somebody who really liked him. still#felt WAY better than this#sorry i ended that episode with my jaw on the fucking FLOOR oh my god. /neg#what did she have to die for? where is that post about female characters dying so male characters can feel sad but it's a gifset of all the#bullshit ass deaths of women on supernatural#i love the show fucking obviously but jesus h christ.#but also you know what. having the context that i have. still a fucked up thing to say but i see why dean says That to sam now during#charlie's funeral. it IS an interesting look into how they respond to the other one violating their wishes/freedoms and into their larger#dynamic actually! but thats not what this post is really about#wow. i am actually livid. poor fucking charlie.#if she was like a sister to the winchesters how about you bring her back huh? how about you revive her? jesus christ#i wonder what her heaven is like. i hope its dnd and movie night with the girls#i took a little break mid-typing this to see if i was just being insane and angry but no the super wiki has a whole section about the fan#outrage at charlie's death and the discussions it furthered about the show's misogynistic tendencies#and you know what? good!#ok anyway. im going to go browse charlie art and feel abnormal now.#supernatural#charlie bradbury

Realistically, immortality would fuckimg suck. But I’d risk it just to see the future and full evolution of modern dinos
this is why I'm hoping there a) is an afterlife b) it's a nice one (thinking The Good Place) and c) I can watch the progression of Earth's history so that I can d) see how modern dinosaurs get on
frankly, I need that afterlife time machine thing so I can just watch the entire story that is life on earth from beginning to end. might speed up some parts at the beginning but I still hope this can be a thing.

what was Filip’s reaction when Cass died?
Think have to get into spoilers for TOFS if I have to guess fully what his reaction would be
Overall think they were mixed feelings, but overall he was sad over it, but couldn’t be sad about it for too long because he had bigger worries
Did doodle this a while back so can have that at least 😭
#tofs tag#character: cassius winston#character: filip mercado#i sometimes forget (almost) everyone is going to die at the end of TOFS 😭#had a discussion with people on twitter and it was like#what if you have the injuries that killed you with you in the afterlife so yeah#so hey they are reunited in the end#r: wincardo

another thing i rly like about ac valhalla/mirage is that eivor meditates before battles (or a major kill) and basim meditates after them
#ac valhalla#ac mirage#missives#i should not overanalyse this but i will in 3 2 1#my perspective on eivor so far is that she takes large battles very seriously but she is also acutely aware of the human cost and what#may follow as well as the likelihood of death on account of her culture#you have her discussing what awaits in the afterlife with other characters in the midst of battle#but she doesnt regret things. not that much#what's done is done and in the past#the battle is done and the cost is assessed and the world keeps turning#but basim never has that - he has so much confidence both in mirage and valhalla#'why do you have so few scars' 'i dont get hit' etc etc etc#and in mirage he also doesnt do a lot of questioning before going in for the kill#but he thinks about it SO MUCH... and obviously all of that is key to the story in mirage#idk this probably didnt warrant commentary but i am Thinking

Everyone on the program: omg cool mummies!!!
Me, literally holding back tears: they are so far from home. Are their souls scared? Has anyone even offered them bread in the afterlife?
#important to note: some ancient Egyptian tombs contain prayers to give the deceased food in the afterlife meant to be read aloud#we read aloud a prayer (NOT SPELL. I AM AGAINST CALLING IT A SPELL) in my class two years ago#we're going to have a 'discussion' on the ethics of displaying mummies and I had to start taking the anti anxiety meds again so I Do Not Cry#while this happens#god. i can't go into Egyptology#day one on the program and I Know Now. I cannot do it for Various Reasons#I'm still doing classics (Ptolemaic period counts as Classics not egyptology) but I Cannot and Will Not interact with modern Egyptian#bureaucracy#tw death#???#i have no fucking clue what to tag this#it's apparently a controversial opinion to say that Egypt is in Africa#a dutch museum got an exhibit SHUT DOWN for PROMOTING AFROCENTRISM. EGYPT IS IN AFRICA#like this is super cool and very important to my feild of study of museum work in general#but yeahhhh i am Too Passionate and full of Righteous Indignation for egyptology#screaming crying throwing uppppppp#and idet and ruiu aren't even THERE

It's really interesting to explore the place of religion in the Lockwood and Co universe, partly because Stroud sort of paints it as a coping mechanism/blind faith/mental crutch in the books (or extrapolates things like ghost cults, the Combe Carey monks, etc. from it)
#personally i think it should be iron salt silver and holy water but y'know#i think religion DOES have a place in stories about supernatural occurrences and creatures#anyway the point my best move in the fittes fic so far is to make kat godwin an orthodox christian#and to let the ripples of that slowly move through the story#another interest point i've added as supplemental material is that george's family is also christian#haven't determined a denomination and don't know if george believes the same things too (?)#i think it would be interesting if he did (stomping on the faith-science divide!) though#i think that kat being a christian is very much an unexpected plot point in the story because it's not something i expected from her#character either lol but it's possibly my best move BECAUSE it's so unexpected for the others#inevitably religion is discussed briefly in places in the fittes fic because post-ned's death the characters ARE thinking of#death and afterlife and that sort of thing#writing adventures

Reality Shift
We reach the end of another @loceitweek. It was very fun participating again, thank you mods for organizing 🥰 I hope you enjoy this last story of mine! 💛💙
Masterpost | Loceit Week 2023 Masterpost | Ao3
Summary: Janus is a Clockmaker with his own shop. When a particular customer comes in, things change in a ways Janus doesn't know - yet.
Content Warnings: Philosophical discussions, Death mention, Afterlife mention, Mention of burning and fire
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Janus was in the middle of installing a gear into his newest work when the bell above the shop entrance rang.
“One moment, please!” he called out, steadying his hand once more before moving the piece into place. It fit perfectly. With a sigh of relief, he pushed the magnifying lens away from his eye and wiped away the sweat on his brow. He allowed himself a short moment of rest before placing his tools aside and walking towards the front.
“Sorry about that, I was in the middle of an assembly,” he explained to the customer who was closely examining his wares. “How can I help you?”
The customer turn to face him and Janus was immediately struck by his deep blue eyes that almost seemed to draw him in. The other man must have noticed him staring because he quickly broke eye-contact and cleared his throat.
Janus shook his head. What just happened? Sure, he had had gay moments before but never like this. This felt different. It had felt… unnatural.
“I simply came in to browse. It is rare to see a proper clockmaker shop these days,” the man explained in a smooth tone that was very pleasing to Janus’ ears. In an attractive way this time, not that weird floating feeling he had got from looking into the man’s eyes.
“Yes, indeed. I doubt I would be able to do this if not for my uncle owning the building. I would never be able to afford the rent, but he’s always been very supportive of me.”
“I see. An understanding and supportive family is a great blessing indeed,” the man nodded. “If you don’t mind my asking, why are you making clocks and watches? With the advance of modern technology, most simply rely on their devices to tell the time. Some of the younger generations don’t even know how to read the time without a digital display anymore.”
Janus eyed the man. That was quite the personal question and he was normally not keen on sharing such details with strangers, but he was also a good judge of character – at least he thought so – and something told him that he could trust this man. Well, what was the harm in telling him?
“I always found clocks fascinating, the hands ever moving, the gears ever turning, everything needs to move precisely how it should for it to work. My grandfather had a small collection of watches, some quite valuable antiques actually. They were so pretty; I could hardly take my eyes off of them. And to just imagine of much effort and precision went into making them, it was like a miracle to me. I wanted to try it for myself, and now, here I am,” Janus smiled, leaning against the counter of his shop and watched his own creations tick away.
“Time is such a fascinating part of our lives, don’t you think?” he continued, absentmindedly stroking his finger across the face of his own watch. “An unstoppable force that dictates everything we do. The fact that we have limited time to live, to do the things we want to do, is what drives us forward the most and I don’t think people appreciate it enough. They’re afraid of death to the point that they curse the passage of time that brings them closer to the brink and I can’t think of anything more beautiful than to watch it pass and change our surroundings. Imagine how dull it would be if everything stayed the same if time didn’t pass. I don’t think enough people appreciate that about time passing. And I think having a watch, a separate tool dedicated to time, is a reminder to be grateful for the life we get to live, no matter how short or long.” He looked up and was met by those deep blue, captivating eyes again. Quickly, he looked away.
The movement seemed to startle the man out of his own thoughts and he cleared his throat again.
“That is some profound reasoning. I’m impressed.” Janus shrugged.
“It’s simply my opinion. Not many I’ve spoken to about it agree with me.”
“No, I imagine they wouldn’t. Thank you for your explanation. I will come by again.” With that the man hurried out the door and Janus wondered if he had just imagined the pink tint to the stranger’s cheeks.
~~~
Janus didn’t know what happened. One moment he was struggling to breathe, the smoke suffocating him, unable to move to escape the heat of the flames, and then, suddenly, everything had vanished. Or maybe he had vanished. The floor – or whatever was under him now – felt cool to the touch but not uncomfortably so. The air was clean and carried a hint of something he couldn’t identify.
He could breathe again. He wasn’t burning anymore. What the hell was going on?
“I’m sorry for my abrupt actions,” a voice he found familiar but couldn’t quite place, suddenly spoke above him, “but I couldn’t remain idle. Can you stand?” Slowly, because he still didn’t know what was happening and felt very disoriented, Janus pushed himself up.
“Where am I?” he asked before looking at where the voice had come from. He was met by a face he recognized though he didn’t know from where until he focused on the eyes. Deep, blue, and captivating. “You’re that customer from a few years back.”
“Indeed.” The man offered him a hand to help him completely to his feet which Janus accepted. He was wary of the stranger, but something about him felt so unthreatening he couldn’t bring himself to refuse.
“You didn’t answer my question,” Janus reminded once he was standing. Looking around he found himself in an observatory of some kind, with a glass dome surrounding them and a sea of stars as long as the eye could see. Wherever he was, it was not Earth.
“It is not an easy question to answer.”
“I imagine it wouldn’t be. Am I dead?”
“Yes, in a sense.”
“Elaborate.” The man sighed before motioning Janus to follow him towards the giant telescope in the middle of the dome.
“Your human perception of death… I do not understand it fully, I must admit, but if I were to use terms that relate to what most of your kind believes, then I would be what you would call a deity. My domain is the passage of time and the movement of space. And in the moment of your death, I pulled away your essence from the world you know to here.”
“My essence? As in my soul?” Janus asked as they climbed the steps up to the lens of the telescope.
“It is not entirely similar to what you would call ‘a soul’ but close enough to make the comparison, I suppose.”
“Then what happens to me now?”
“That is up to you,” the man – no, god, apparently – shrugs as he motions for Janus to take a seat in one of the chairs placed beside the telescope while the god – feels weird to call him that, Janus thinks – places himself in front of the lens. “It was my thoughtless action that brought you here, but I will not force you to stay.”
“So I wasn’t supposed to be here?”
“No, you weren’t. This is a space of my creation, for me alone.”
“Then why did you bring me here?”
“I… am not quite sure of that myself. Unlike what you humans believe, even as a deity, I am not all-knowing. Especially you humans confound me often. Which is why I travel to your world every once in a while. I have watched you for millennia. Watched you curse my domain for ending your lives and keeping you from reaching what goals you strive towards, but you, you were so different that day in your store. You understood the value of my work and I found myself wanting to converse with you longer, but I am not supposed to interfere with your world. There are others – other deities if you so will – who care for your kind and do not wish for ours to change yours.
“So I kept an eye on you from afar and when you were on the brink of death, of disappearing from my sight, I couldn’t stop myself from reaching out and bringing you here.”
“Won’t the other deities reprimand you for that? If you aren’t supposed to interfere?” Janus questioned.
“I did not interfere with what was supposed to happen. You still died. Your body will still be found and mourned. Time will continue the same as if I had not acted.”
“What about where I was supposed to go from there? Shouldn’t my ‘essence’ as you call it not be somewhere else?”
“No. It would have simply disappeared.”
“So there is no life after death?”
“There is not.”
“I see.”
“You are quite accepting of this shift in your perceived reality.”
“I suppose I am,” Janus smiled, coyly, as the deity faced him again after having looked through the lens for the last part of their conversation. “I never saw much sense in committing to a believe I couldn’t prove, so religion didn’t interest me. If you are a deity and you say this is how reality works, then I can accept that.”
“You truly are strange.”
“So I’ve been told.”
The deity laughed.
“I truly hope you will stay a while. I haven’t had good company in so long.”
“I have no where else to be, apparently. So why not.”
“I am grateful.”
“I’m Janus.”
The deity smiled and reached out a hand.
“Logos. But I would like you to refer to me as Logan.”
“Sure. Thank you for bringing me here, Logan. I look forward to learning about this reality from your perspective.”

omg cuz no i used to be obsessed with afterl!fe . i LOVED theo and verine (also noah <3) you can bet i SOBBED when the servers shut down. i still dont know why tho and im also really sad that there isnt more fan-produced content to compensate for how much i miss the game </3
Afterl!fe was the reason I began my blog! I’m still so sad it shut down and that there isn’t more fan works created for it. T^T and the termination letters that all the boys wrote to us. Those were so heartbreaking!! I wish they would have given us an explanation as to why it happened, but many theorized it was because they weren’t making enough money. Either way, I will forever miss my beloved soul reapers.
Aaaa you have good taste!!! I loved Theo omg!!!! The fish scene with Cyrille when he’s like, “Do you like fish? :)” and then proceeds to smash the fish into visceral shreds and then go, “oh, oops! I must not have did it correctly because it’s my first time.” THAT HAD ME SO :O !!!! Meanwhile, Cyrille is horrified LOL. Or that time when Nine was playing the piano with the manager and he was thinking, Only I should be allowed to play for the manager. AAAAAAA I LOVED HIM SO MUCH… truthfully, the Genshin fic “Click” was actually intended to be a yandere Theo fic. I had half of it written with Theo and the other characters who played roles in it (Sian, Day, Mori, Quincy, Verine), but I could never finish it and I didn’t want to just abandon the idea. So it became the Genshin yandere who did it? fic you see on my blog today! :D
AND VERINE OMG!!!!! VERINE MY MOST BELOVED AAAAAAA!!! He was so cute. I also had a yandere fic planned for him in which he was a sickly Victorian man living in solitude amongst the flowers in his greenhouse when he spies a kind noble lady from the window and proceeds to fall in love. <3
And Noah… he was so !!!! Looking so very disrespectfully. 🫣 I don’t remember too much about his story, but I think he wanted to become a police officer in his next life. Either way, Noah was so handsome and sweet and I like him a lot.
I also really liked Ell! His energy and optimism was really infectious. He was such a sweetheart. (*´꒳`*) I still have these screenshots of when you pick him and then when he introduces us to SNS:
AND LOOKING NOW I COMPLETELY FORGOT THEO’S USERNAME WAS SHE’S_MINE OHHHHH HE WAS SO YANDERE AAAAAAAA
#afterlife chit chat#aaaa i want to write for them again T-T#maybe i’ll keep the writings to myself because i’m not sure if there are any afterl!fe fans following me still >_<#but i am always ready to discuss afterl!fe#especially theo AAAAA I LOVE THEO OTL OTL

The Skyloft Knight Academy Students in the Afterlife Discussing Ganondorf
Karane: I knew it! I KNEW IT! That Ganondorf was a trouble maker from the start!
Cawlin: Don't look at us!
Strich: Yeah, he's not from our family *looks at Groose*
Groose: He's just trying to help his people!
Zelda: But if he continues down this path, he'll take the Triforce! Destruction will come to Hyrule! And peace & prosperity will disintegrate!
Fledge: Not to mention the suffering he'll cause...
Pipit: Me & Karane's descendants never caused such trouble! They all became remarkable people!
Groose: Well we can't ALL be remarkable people!
Link: No...Your descendant had to be the KING OF EVIL!
#legend of zelda#skyward sword#ocarina of time#twilight princess#wind waker#tears of the kingdom#ganondorf#link#zelda#groose#karane#pipit#fledge#cawlin#strich#this was funnier in my head#am i funny yet#yeah its the ancestors scene from mulan#I like the idea of these guys in the afterlife having discussions of events that occurs after skyward sword#I don't believe ganondorf is a direct descendant of groose#but for the sake of comedy\ lets pretend that theory of groose being a gerudo ancestor is true
